Zanaya Maitam

“Recycling and composing”

Intermediate – Grade 3

Artist Statement:

I painted flowers because I want people to know that when they don’t recycle and just throw their cans, water bottles, pencils, pen, a light! Flowers can’t grow because the earth needs to stay healthy. When ever you see lots of plants growing that means the earth is healthy.

Aubrey Martinez

“Sound Wave”

Intermediate – Grade 3

Artist Statement:

This is a painting of my voice. This is a painting of me.

I recorded myself on my phone – I said “I am Aubrey and I love myself” and then drew that sound wave onto the canvas. Inside the sound wave is me – I have many me’s:

There is me just peaking through at the start. There is winning me and a sassy me, but there is also a mad me and a sad me. There is me being scary, shocked, and happy to be near nature.

This is how I show my voice – by showing all the different me’s!

Zendaya Devon

“A New Ocean”

Intermediate – Grade 4

Artist Statement:

My work relates to the theme because it’s what the ocean can look like that if people take care of the earth.

“The Earth is in our hands”

Intermediate – Grade 4

Artist Statement:

I drew this piece of art to show how the Earth is in our hands. If we don’t take care of the Earth, who will? We are responsible of the Earth because we are the ones living in it. The Earth is precious, there is only one Earth we won’t be here without Earth. Humans are the cause of Earth’s terrible conditions. The Earth depends on YOU! Stop Earth’s bad conditions! I believe love is the key to saving the Earth.

“The Art of the Circuit”

Intermediate – Grade 4

Artist Statement:

In this drawing I am showing my voice by using my favorite drawing style, anime. I am showing what my life will probably be like in a future that will be more advanced in technology. As I grow up, there will be changes in my life and at the same time, technology will also change and the world will be different. My personal connection to the theme is my own life in the future. My inspiration for my artwork is a circuit board connecting parts of my future life in a technological and computerized, advanced world.

“PEACE”

Intermediate – Grade 4

Artist Statement:

On the right side, I drew people fixing the “Peace” Statue which got damaged from the war. The left side (also known as Russia) began a war against the right side (Ukraine). Russia is calling the military, burning flags, throwing bombs, launching nukes, and people are dying.

On the top middle part, I drew PEACE letters surrounded by the national flags from all over the world. These represent that every country and nations have been working hard to make a peaceful world.

I hope War would stop soon and peace will come back.

Alicia Chin

“Montage of What Stood Out”

Intermediate – Grade 5

Artist Statement:

My work is a photomontage of pictures I took at the Del Amo Mall. This shows my voice because every picture I took shows my personality. I didn’t just take pictures of anything, the pictures I took were the ones I took because they were interesting to me. Every picture I took expressed myself in some way. If one of my pictures has tons of energy, that represents the energy in me. That’s how my photomontage shows my voice.

Julius Mejia

“I Am a Ball”

Intermediate – Grade 5

Artist Statement:

My picture shows a ball that doesn’t fit in a box. I think I am the ball and everything else is the box. I am different and I am unique. I inspire myself. I used a camera to take a picture that I like.

Mason Palafox

He is from a show for attack on titan.
